On November 10, 2024, the Church of God hosted an event to celebrate its 60th anniversary since its establishment in South Korea in 1964, as well as its 10th anniversary in New Windsor, NY. The celebration welcomed over 200 guests and brought the community together through Korean food, an exhibition, Bible studies, and traditional Korean performances.
Food often serves as a welcoming introduction to a culture and community. With this in mind, guests were greeted with a variety of food booths offering Korean dishes like japchae, kimchi fried rice, hotteok, tteokbokki, and more. Beyond the delicious food, the event primarily focused on sharing the Church of God’s core biblical teachings and the values that have driven its global commitment to service over the past 60 years.
Our Mother Exhibition Opens to Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Guests were also able to walk through Our Mother Exhibition, which shares writings, photos, and videos that convey the profound love and sacrifice of mothers worldwide. Through personal experiences shared by Church members, the exhibition offers moments of reflection, bringing back touching memories of one’s own mother.
“This festival was a beautiful reflection of the unity and love we strive to cultivate in our community,” said a church representative. “We were honored to share this special day with the New Windsor community and to showcase the rich cultural heritage of South Korea, as well as the church’s mission of spreading peace and love to every corner of the world.”
Local Leaders Honor Church of God’s Service and Initiatives
Local leaders joined the activities to honor the Church of God’s long-standing dedication to the community. Awards were presented to the church in recognition of its service in New Windsor and across New York State. The awards also highlighted the church’s commitment to its ongoing initiatives, including upcoming events such as the International Day for Tolerance Anti-Bullying Forum with New York’s Secretary of State and the year-end Human Solidarity Day Celebration.
